Jalaud Norte inspired from the River of Jalaur

Before, Jalaud is the official name of our barangay which was taken from the river name. But due to the increasing population and wide location, Jalaud was divided into two, the Jalaud Norte and Jalaud Sur. Economy wise, Jalaud Norte having a strategic location is more progressive of the two. We are thankful not only because of our current name but our progress is brought by this majestic and famous river of Panay - the JALAUR RIVER.

Jalaur River is the second largest river in island of Panay and the 17th largest river system in the Philippines in terms of drainage basin size. It has and estimated drainage area of 1,503 square kilometers and travels 123 kilometers from its source to its mouth in the Guimaras Strait. The river has an annual average discharge of 40.29 m³/second.

Be a Lourdesian & Let Your Faith Grows

Last Sunday, according to my Lola, a group of ladies pledge their loyalty and devotion to become part of the devotee of Our Lady of Lourdes.  Good to know that we have this group which symbolizes our faith and devotion to Mother Mary.

Father Villases the current parish priest of Our Lady of Lourdes in Bga. Bante – Bonco, Pototan, Iloilo inducted the said ceremony, which was hold after the first Mass celebration.

Being a devotee has a lot of responsibilities as it was read by Father.   Some of the duties include praying the rosary, going to church every Sunday and fiesta, recruiting other person to become part of the group and a lot more which I believe very important especially now-a-days we are encountering a lot of temptation and of course for our own soul survival. (Part of a Roman Catholic beliefs.)

Pero  if we check the members who pledge their devotion, puro sila mga babaye… Suno pa kay father indi lang in ulubrahon sng sang mga babayi kundi sng kadam-an man.  Siguro ini na guid man ang pagpanugod sng bag-o kag mas aktibo nga myembro.  Hopefully damo ang mainganyo nga mag-intra indi lamang tungod sa personal nga intension kundi ang pagpabaskog sang pagtuo- kag pagbulig sng mga tawo nga nadula sa ila esoerituhanon nga banas.

Advance Merry Christmas to all of you…since we are now on –ber month.  Let’s pause for a while for the hot issues in our barangay.  For this time we will be posting this beautiful Hiligaynon Folk Song entitle “Kon Ikaw Nailo”. This song is a lullaby that captured my heart upon hearing it to the one who sung this song.  I know some of our elders esp. our lolas and lolos know this song.

Who are the NEXT Prospect Leaders of JALAUD NORTE... ?

(This is an introduction, prediction and a preview article of the possible candidates for this coming 2010 Barangay and SK election for Jalaud Norte, Zarraga, Iloilo.)

"The period for filing applications for registration, transfer of registration, change of name, correction of entries, reactivation of deactivated registration record for 25 October 2010 Barangay and SK Elections already ended last 13 and 15 August 2010" says the COMELEC. Kag tani tanan nga bago nga bumuluto nakaparehistro agud ila mahimo ang ila responsibilidad, kon sa diin amo ang pagboto.

Kag subong man aton na mabatian ang paghinuring-huring sang mga masunod nga luyag magpadalagan sa nagkalain-lain nga pwesto sa barangay. Biskan may ara pa masulusobra 1 kag tunga ka bulan bago mag-election, ang iba di naguid mapungan ang ila pagpahayag sa pagpadalagan sing Okutbure 25, 2010 nga election. For this coming election Jalaud Norte (and even other barangay) will open 8 positions in Barangay Council and also 8 positions in Sangguniang Kabataan.

Para sa pagka-Kapitan ukon punong barangay, may 4 ka possible nga manugpadalagan (ini suno sa akon nabal-an). Isa ka re-electionist (you know who I mean, the incumbent barangay captain). Possible man ang isa ka end-termer councilor ang magpalansar. Ang iban nagapati nga may 2 ka private individual nga luyag magsulod sa pulitika kag ang pagkaKapitan ang ila target gilayun.

Sa pagka-Konsehal, may ara kita sbong 6 ka re-electionist kag siguro handa man gihapon sa pagpadalagan liwat. Aton nahibal-an nga may pito (7) ka konsehal ang kada barangay. May ara man 3 ka returnees nga luyag guid magbalik liwat para magserbisyo sa barangay. Isa man sa myembro sng barangay council ang ginabati-bati nga luyag maging konsehal. I know damu pa ang nagapanumdom nga luyag magsulod sa pulitika diri sa aton barangay kag gusto guid naton ina mabal-an agud aton makilala kag matakos ang ila ikasangkol sa pulitika.

Masadya man ang pwesto nga paga-agawan sa SK. Sa pagka SK chairman, may istorya nga nagagwa nga 2 ka bata sng mga konsehal sng una ang magapalanasar. Kag isa pa guid apo man sng konsehal subong. Politics in their blood guid ya ang hampang sa pulitika?

Kag sa mga kabataan nga luyag makaintindi sng ginatawag nga public service, may pito (7) ka pwesto nga pwede guid para sa inyo. Pito ka SK counicilors ang ginakinahanglan sng aton barangay. Kag diri guid ninyo mabal-an kung ano ang ginatawag nga pulitika.

Hopefully maging responsible ang next sets of officers both in Barangay and SK.

Jalaud Norte Brgy. Council Lunches Task Force Dengue

The Barangay Council of Jalaud Norte recently lunched Task-force Dengue to fight against this deadly illness - the Dengue. We have several cases of this sickness in our barangay, the reason why our officials created this group. And take note, we are the first barangay nga nagtukod sini sa bilog nga Zarraga. It's just only means that the council protects our health care especially our young minds. Below are the officers of this task force.

Do you Know the Meaning of BLISS?

BLISS is one of the streets of Jalaud Norte. It is part of the innermost and southwest area of the barangay together with the Lacson Village & Core Shelter. Among the three, BLISS is the most famous because of the common houses structure and having the most number of households. Kag kung ara ka sa Bga Bante proper dapat ka magbantay sang tricycle agod malab-ot ang ini nga lugar. Mangkot ka “Diin ang paBliss?” BLISS the usual word we utter pointing to this place but the young minds (bisan gani mal-am) doesn’t know what the meaning of BLISS is.

BLISS is an acronym for Bagong Lipunan Improvement of Sites and Services.  This was launched as a national development strategy on January 9, 1979 through the issuance of Executive Order 517 under President Marcos Regime.  It aims to demonstrate the integrative benefits and to bring forth the essential services of the government in the service of man.  Ang tawo bilang sentro sng pag pangabuhi sa sociedad kag nagakinahanglan sng mga nesesidad pareho sng tubig, balay, ikaayong lawas, pangabuhian, kalingawan, isport, kag economic and social services. That's the deeper meaning of it.

Kag maswerte ang Jalaud Norte ilabi na guid ang mga residente nga nakakuha sng libre nga balay kag duta halin sa gobyerno. Kag indi lamang kita ang may BLISS nga lugar kondi sa nagkalain lain man nga bahin sng Pilipinas.  And if we check the BLISS project  today, a lot had been renovated (syempre kay sng 1986 ang mass-housing ginhimo pa halin sa kahoy ang haligi kag ang iya salug sa kawayan). The classic two-bedroom house is now elegant and concrete. Pero may ara man gihapon nga nagpabilin sa amo nga istruktura.

So now bal-an nyo na kon ngaa BLISS ang lugar. Kay di man pwede kung mamangakot kaw sa tricycle mahambal ka nga “Diin ang pakadto sa Bagong Lipunan Improvement of Sites and Services?” LOL Baw kalawig guid ya…. Basta paBLISS ta a…
